Here is what the Ipswich News (22Aug12) had to say about Scuzzy, Ned Kelly, & the Big Banger Truck Show at Rosewood.
ANDREW McSweeney admits to being ‘‘a little bit’’ of a Ned Kelly fan.
Turning his ‘93 model Western Star Heritage model truck into an eye-catching tribute to the outlaw hero, complete with custom chrome accessories and personalised number plate, was a labour of love for the Scuzztrans owner and driver.
‘It started purely as a hobby. I was going to buy a Mustang, but thought we’d do this up and that way we could use it as well in the business,’’ he said, adding that everyone now called him ‘‘Ned Kelly’’ over the UHF radio.
McSweeney’s pride and joy will be one of about 100 trucks at the Big Banger Truck Show and Trade Expo at Rosewood Showgrounds on Father’s Day, September 2.
It will be the first truck show organised by advocacy and support group Transport People United Inc, and president Shannon Dobson said it would become an annual Father’s Day event for Rosewood.
‘There will be rides and country music all day,’’ he said.
The Big Banger Truck Show and Trade Expo is part of the Rosewood Festival, which launches with a ‘‘Rose-Vegas’’ casino night on August 31 and includes the annual street parade and events on John St on Saturday September 1. For the full program of events go to rosewoodfestival.com.au“
